ULI Northwest Releases Ballard Station TAP Report
ULI Northwest’s Ballard Station TAP report outlines bold TOD strategies to shape a vibrant, connected future for Ballard.
November 7, 2025
SEATTLE, WA (November 7, 2025) – Effective July 1, 2026, ULI Northwest will transition into separate District Councils. ULI Northwest will continue to serve Washington State (excluding Southwest Washington), while a new ULI Oregon and Southwest Washington District Council will encompass Oregon and the Vancouver, WA area. This strategic step empowers each council to serve members and respond to local priorities most effectively.
With 800 members in Seattle and 380 in Portland, both communities will gain more tailored engagement, programming, and leadership opportunities, while remaining united under ULI’s shared mission. Despite being geographically close, Seattle and Portland have distinct identities shaped by unique economic drivers, development patterns, and policy landscapes. A more localized approach will enable ULI’s work to respond to the realities on the ground in each real estate market.
ULI Northwest (headquartered in Seattle) and ULI Oregon and Southwest Washington (headquartered in Portland) will continue to collaborate and support one another as part of Cascadia, while also supporting members and sponsors who serve both markets. All members and sponsors can look forward to more customized engagement opportunities, along with continued collaboration on regionally significant initiatives. Andrea Newton will continue to lead ULI Northwest as Executive Director, and Jen Kelly will lead ULI Oregon and Southwest Washington.
“ULI is all about local leadership driving impact,” said Lori Hill, ULI Northwest Chair. “This new structure allows Seattle and Portland to shape initiatives that speak directly to their communities.”
“We celebrate a great relationship forged through a decade of serving our members together and look forward to a new chapter of serving our states as separate district councils, growing our impact with new focus” said Carrie Kahn, ULI Oregon and Southwest Washington Chair. This transition underscores ULI’s continued commitment to empowering local leadership and advancing land use best practices across the Pacific Northwest.
