Net Zero Imperative
The ULI Net Zero Imperative (NZI) is a multi-year initiative designed to accelerate decarbonization in the built environment. It is a key aspect of ULI’s efforts to advance its net zero mission priority. The program sponsors technical assistance panels in a select number of global cities each year, designed to help building owners, cities, and other relevant stakeholders reduce carbon emissions associated with buildings, communities, and cities.
Towards Accelerating Decarbonization in the Pacific Northwest
As part of a global cohort supported by the ULI Randall Lewis Center for Sustainability in Real Estate, ULI Northwest hosted the 2025 Net Zero Imperative (NZI) Technical Assistance Panel, focused on Regional Grid-Interactive Efficient Building (GEB) adoption. Through this panel, we brought together local leaders, developers, real estate professionals, and community stakeholders, along with guest participants from across the U.S. Together, they examined practical strategies to advance GEB adoption in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. This effort is part of a broader ULI initiative to build healthier, more sustainable, and economically vibrant communities worldwide.
