Seattle grown, Tyler started his career in real estate investment and development as an entrepreneur in 2013. He has since taken on a broad range of single and multi-family value-add investment projects. He has taken a hands-on approach with building, immersing himself in the design and construction process—leading teams, facilitating design-planning, and the supply of materials and equipment. Becoming knowledgeable about building code has empowered him to move through the permitting process quickly, to intuitively apply this knowledge when evaluating future projects on walk-throughs, and to build increasingly sophisticated models that more accurately predict cost/time requirements of value-add projects. Directly overseeing projects from beginning to end has given him fundamental exposure to a broad spectrum of real estate’s interdisciplinary aspects. Previous work in financial accounting and internal audit at Costco Wholesale has enabled him to develop quantitative and analytical tools from which he continues to build. With the goal of working in acquisitions or asset management, Tyler is energized to continue to study investment in larger commercial real estate projects in more sophisticated ways, including how thoughtful investment strategies inform ultimate successes or failures. The MSRE is the premier opportunity to help him strengthen and adapt himself intellectually and technically, and further prepare to contribute effectively as a leader in the local real estate community. Tyler enjoys boating, fishing, golfing, soccer, snowboarding, bouldering, and although a former intercollegiate baseball player, softball is now the most he can handle.
