    Sue Levin

    Chief Operations Officer, Bolt Threads

As head of operations and business development, Sue frames Bolt Threads’ work in a broader context, translating scientific research to consumer needs. At Bolt Threads, her experience and leadership have been focused on developing the company's commercial strategy, including the launch of two novel materials, Microsilk™ and Mylo™, the acquisition of Best Made Co. in 2017, and the launch of Eighteen B skincare in 2019. Under Sue’s direction, Bolt Threads formed a lasting partnership with Stella McCartney, resulting in many product collaborations like the Stella McCartney x MoMA Microsilk™ Dress, the Mylo™ Falabella prototype, and others. Sue started her career in journalism before moving to Nike, where she was the global director of women’s sports marketing, and later U.S. women’s brand director. Sue left Nike to co-found lucy, a pioneering women’s activewear brand that she led through a successful transition from dot-com to multichannel retailer.
