Episode 3: What is the future of construction with cross-laminated timber (CLT)?

CLT is a large-scale, prefabricated, solid engineered, wood panel that is lightweight and extremely strong. It has superior acoustic, fire, seismic, and thermal performance, offering flexibility and low environmental impacts, including negligible on site waste.

With its increasing popularity in construction over the last year, how has COVID-19 impacted its availability; as well as impacts on the businesses who use it and those whom have already had it installed? Has CLT influenced economic development across the Pacific-Northwest and what is its future potential in our built environment? Considering the real estate industry’s concern around the impacts of climate change and urban resilience, what does this mean for CLT?
