Around the world, communities face pressing health challenges related to the built environment. For many years, ULI and its members have been active players in discussions and projects that make the link between human health and development; we know that health is a core component of thriving communities.
What is a healthy place? Healthy places offer healthy and affordable housing options. They provide access to healthy foods, the natural environment, and other amenities. Healthy Places are designed thoughtfully, and are built using health-promoting materials. And they address unique community issues with innovative and sustainable solutions.
Through the two-year Building Healthy Places Initiative, ULI is working to promote health across the globe. Join ULI Northwest as we engage key community thought leaders and decision-makers to participate in this initiative at the local level, while shaping projects and places in ways that improve the health of people in our communities.
This is the first of several ULI Northwest Building Healthy Places programs planned for 2014.
